On 7 February 2002 the European Commission launched the European GreenLight programme. GreenLight is a voluntary programme in which companies and institutes can commit themselves to the European Commission to: ´use energy-efficient lighting in their buildings when it is profitable and on condition that the lighting quality is maintained or improved´.
The environment and energy problem require an innovative approach where the intelligent use of the limited energy supply comes first. Saving energy are the keywords for every company to limit the burden on the environment and to improve its competitive position by saving energy expenses.
Meanwhile, Europe has 375 GreenLight partner organisations that have changed over 1,600 buildings. ETAP lighting handed out GreenLight plaques to seven new partners from the Benelux, including Flanders Expo, on 7 May on behalf of the European Commission. After all, Flanders Expo has invested in extremely low-energy lighting, which can be adapted depending on the event or fair. This way it contributes to environmental protection.
